Tuossa aikaisemmin virkkasin ihanan kirsikkapannan http://torranceknits.blogspot.com/2006/12/love-those-cherries.html , mutta nyt kun vihdoinkin alkaa ilmat kylmetä, mie tarvitsin myös jotain vähän lämpimämpää.


Panta on neulottu, ja kirsikat virkattu. Erittäin hyvin onnistunut, muuten kuin kuvaus. Oon äitillä joulun vietossa, ja sen kameraa käytin, eikä äitillä oo juurikaan kuvankäsittelyohjelmaa.

The headband is knitted, and the cherries croheted. I think Everything else was done very well, except the photo. I'm still at my mom's for the holidays, her camera isn't the best...

Äitillä on myös erittäin kylmät lattiat, joten olihan miun virkattava ittelleni Mary Jane-tossut. En käyttänyt mitään valmista kaavaa, vaan keksin sitä mukaa kun tein. Muten ihan kivan tuntuset jalassa. Ihan himpun pienemmät oisvat saaneet olla, mutta useimmin mie noita sukkien kanssa käytän.

My mom has very cold floors, so I had to crochet myself some Mary Jane slippers. I didn't use any particular pattern, I just kinda made it up as I wen't along. They should've been a little bit smaller, but it's ok since I usually wear them with socks.

Tämän Liesel-huivin tein miun mummolle. Se tosiaan valmistui aattoiltana, mutta onneks en nähnyt mummoa kuin vasta tapanina, joten kerkesin pingottaakkin sen.

Erittäin hienosti onnistunut huivi. Mummokin tykkäs. Miusta on jotenkin hirveen kiva neuloa kaikkia pitsijuttuja, mutta muutamaa poikkeusta lukuunottamatta, en itte oo juurikaan pitsin ystävä. Onneks voi aina neuloa muille ihmisille.

This Liesel-scarf I made for my granmother. I got it reasy on 24th, but luckily I didn's see my granny until the 26th, so I had time to block it and everything.

I think I did a great job. My granny really liked it too. I love knitting lacy things, but except for a few exceptions I don't really like wearing lacy stuff. It's a good thing I can always knit for other people.

how much yarn is too much?

Pikkuinen kurkistus lankavarastoihin näin vuoden viimeisessä kuussa.

Taustalla näkyvät leopardikuvioiset kassit on miun lankojen säilytystä varten.. eikä ne edes riitä. Vielä on samokset erillään yhessä kangaskassissa.

Noin sängylle kasattuna näyttää yllättävän pieneltä määrältä. Mutta toisaalta nuo on ylhäältä päin kuvattu, joten ei oikein saa kunnon mielikuvaa keosta.

Pitäisikö tehdä uudenvuoden lupaus etten ostais enempää lankaa ennenkun kaikki langat mahtuu yhteen kassiin.. Ihankun sellanen lupaus ikinä pitäis! Mut ainahan sitä voi unelmoida muuttuvansa järkevämmäksi

A little peek at my yarn stash in "honour" of the last month of the year.

The leopard print bags are what I store my yarn in. And they ain't enough! I have one more tote for them.

The stash looks suprisingly small put to the bed like that. But on the other hand the picture is taken from above, so you don't get the full image of the pile.

Wonder if i should make a New Years resolution, that I'm not gonna buy any more yarn until the whole stash fits in one bag.. Like I would ever keep that! But I can always dream of becoming smarter

Miekii ku muutki! Pitkään oon miettiny, et tommonen ois tehtävä, mutta se vähän meinas jäädä. Mutta pakko oli keksiä jotain tuliaisiks siskontytölle, kun sielä kävin. Omapa oon syyni, mitäs oon opettanu nappulan siihen että mie tuon aina jotain tullessani.

Linkkiin astuessa miulla oli pussissa irrallisia ruumiin osia, neulaa, lankaa ja vanua. Bussista ulos astuessa olikin tilanne jo toinen, kuten kuvasta näkyy.

Tämä amineko, jolle 7vuotias neiti antoi nimeksi Pörri, on tehty jostain tuntemattomasta vaaleanpunasesta ohuesta puuvillalangasta, sekä novitan kotiväki colorista. Sen sisällä on vanua, sekä vähäsen linssejä (ei miulla mitään hiivatin muovipalleroita ollut, jota ohjeessa laittamaan käskettiin) Miun pehmolelut näyttää aina jotenkin vihasilta..

Everyone else has done it, so I did it! I thought about doing in for a loooong time, but just didn't get around to it..until last week. I had to think of something to give my niece, so that's why I made that one. My fault really for teaching her that I always bring something when I visit her.

When I stepped on the buss I had bodyparts+cottonstuffing (you know what I mean..)+needle with me. As you can see, when I stepped off the buss it was a whole another story.

This amineko, that was named Pörri by a 7year old lady, is made out of unknown pink cotton yarn and novitas kotiväki colori yarn. It's filled with the fluffy cotton stuff and lentils... (I didn't have any damn plastic pellets the pattern called for. My stuffed animals always look kinda pissed off..

Elämän pieniä iloja: kaksi kerää ilmaista lankaa, joka ostettuna maksais yli 6€/kerä.
Sain ne nää tosiaan ilmaseks kun yks ohjeen tynkänen julkastiin novitaklubin nettisivuilla. Pyysin sitten kotiväkeä "vaivanpalkaksi", kun se on kallista, ja mustana tietenkin.

Perjantaina oli postimies yrittänyt jo näitä miun luokse saattaa, mutten ollut kotona, niin jätti vaan lapun että postista voi hakea. Ja tänään sitten sain aikaseksi lähteä postiin seikkailemaan.

Jos nää kerät ei huuda Söderaa!!! Niin ei kyllä mikään. Södera-sukkiin ei kyllä mee toinen kerä, eikä siitäkään kuin jonkin verran yli puolet, niin kaiketi sitä on muutakin keksittävä, ainankin helmet vois virkata.... Mutta sukkia en alota ennen joululomaa, ei vaan oo aikaa.

One of little joys in life: 2 skeins of free yarn, that would've cost me over 6€/skein in a store.
I got them 'cos one of my simple little patterns was "published" in Novita's club website (a website for people who subscribe the Novita magazine). I could choose the yarn, so obviously I went for something expensive..and something black.

They didn't fit through the mailbox, and I wasn't home on friday when the postman tried to deliver it, so they left a note saying that i could pick it up in the post office. Today I finally got around to dragging my behind to the postoffice.

If these skeins don't just scream out: Södera!!! Then I don't know what does. It only takes a little more than a half skein to make the södera-socks, so quess I have to think of some other ways to use them too. I could crochet some pearl-type-thingys... I wont cast on for the socks before the holidays, I just ain't got time.

Nyt löytyi ehkä paras neuleohje IKINÄ!!

Elikkäs siis uusimman knittyn calorimetry Piti heti tehdä niitä kaksi: toinen äitille, ja toinen ittelleni.

Tämähän on ihan välttämätön ihmisille joille ponnarin vaihtaminen mustasta punaseen on suurinpiirtein sama kuin vaihtais hiustyyliä kokonaan, eli semmosille kuin mie.

Äitille tein sinisen. Se kyllä aina pitää hiuksia auki, muttei tykkää pitää pipoja, joten aattelin että josko tää ratkaisis ongelman.
Ittelleni tein mustan, yllättävää eikö totta? Näissä meni vaja kolme tuntia kappale neuloa, ja kyllä kieltämättä ranteissa alkaa tuntuakin että olis neulonut...

I may have found the best pattern EVER!!

It's the new knittys calorimetry. calorimetry I instantly had to make two of them: one for mommy, and one for me.

Seriously, it's necessary for people who feel like changins the elasticband you hold your head up with from black to red equals a clomplite change in hairstyle, people like me.

I made the blue one for my mom. She never wears her hair up, but she doesn't like hats, so I hope this solves the problem.

I made my own in black, suprising isn't it? These took less than 3 hours each to knit, and my wrists start to feel like I'd been knitting..

So, it appears I made another headband. I often do the same thing many times...like socks, wristwarmers. Now i made a cutesy headband with a bow, and also wrote down a pattern:

Lanka: Novita Jasmin, tai Tennessee. Mustaa ja vaaleanpunaista.
3,5mm puikot
3,5mm virkkuukoukku

Panta:
Luo mustalla langalla 9 silmukkaa
Neulo helmineuletta (jokainen rivi: 1o,1n,1o,1n,1o,1n,1o,1n,1o), kunnes pituus on noin 40cm.
(pituus riippuu tietysti ihan siitä minkä kokoiseen päähän panta tulee)
Päättele

Seuraavaksi on tarkoitus virkata piilosilmukoita pannan ympäri.
Aloita piilosilmukoiden virkkaus jommalta kummalta pitkältä sivulta.
Kun pääset toisen lyhyen sivun keskikohtaan, tee 1ks, 33kjs, käänny, ja tee ks jokaiseen kjs:ään, ja sitten vielä ks samaan mihin teit ks:än ennen kjs:iä (ta-daa! ensimmäinen solmimisnauha on valmis!)
Jatka piilosilmukoiden tekemistä kunnes tulet taas lyhyen reunan keskikohtaan, tee solmimisnauha samalla tavalla kuin edellisessä sivussa.
Jatka piilosilmukoita kunnes tulet kohtaan mistä aloitit

Rusetti:
Luo rusetin ”runkoa” varten vaaleanpunaisella 7 silmukkaa
Neulo helmineuletta 20 riviä
Päättele,

Luo rusetin solmimisnauhaa varten 3s
Neulo helmineuletta 12krs
Päättele

Pyöräytä solmimisnauha rusetin rungon ympärille, ja ompele kiinni rusetin muotoon.
Kiinnitä rusetti pantaan ompelemalla, käytä ylpeänä!

The yarn I used is Novita’s jasmine, but use any cotton/cotton blend yarn you’d knit with 3,5mm needles
Needles: 3,5mm, US #4 (is it?) + 3,5mm crochet hook
Headband

CO 9 sts
Work in seed stitch (every round: k1,p1,k1,p1,k1,p1,k1,p1,k1), until it measures about 40cm (a little less than 16 inches). The length obviously depends on how big is your head…
BO all sts

Next you take the hook, and you’re gonna make slip stitches aaaal around the headband.
Start crocheting from one of the longer sides.
When you get to the middle of one of the short sides do 1sc, then chain 33, turn, do sc in every chain sts + one sc in the same place you did the first sc before the chain. (Ta da! You’ve made the first ribbon, only one left and then you can tie the headband to your head)
Continue making sl sts until you get to the other short side, and do the same ribbon thingy as you did before)
Keep on making sl sts until you come to the spot where you started.
Weave in ends

Bow
CO 7 sts work in seed st for 20 rows
BO all sts

For the little ribbon you wrap around the part you just made (in order to make a bow)
CO 3sts, work in seed sts for 12rows.
BO all sts

Wrap the little ribbon thingy around the bow thingy, and sew it on,
Sew the bow on the headband, wear proud!

Eilen tein myös joulutorttuja. Aattelin tehä pienen kokeen, että kuinka monta torttua pitää syyä ennenkun tulee tosi huono olo, muttei yheksän riittänyt.. Yesterday I also made christmaspastries. I thought I'd do a little test on how many pastries one has to eat before they feel really sick, but 9 didn't quite cut it. Maybe it was the over eating that made me sleep 15 hours last night! Nobody sleeps that much.. Notice my lovely kitchen curtains on the backround, they used to belong to my granny.

Hienointa mitä mie oon ikinä tehny! Sain tuon valmiiksi ehkä vartti sitten, ja heti oli tultava hehkuttamaan.

Miun ihana kirsikkapanta. Oletettavasti usein päässä tästä eteenpäin.

Ja ehkä hienointa on että tää luomus on ihan omasta päästä keksitty ja tehty. Oon aivan hillittömän ylpeä, vaikkei tää nyt mikään monimutkainen keksintö ollutkaan.

Viime kesänä opettelin virkkaamaan, ja tein himputisti isoäidin neliöitä niinkin villillä ajatuksella, että tekisin niistä peiton.. Kuten näkyy niin ihan niin siinä ei käynyt.. Vielä pitäis viidelle neliölle keksiä käyttöä.

Last summer I learned to crohet, and made a lots of granny squares, with the wild intetion of making a blanket.. As you can see, it didn't quite turn out like that. I started crocheting something like a beanie for the bulb from the red yarn. And after a sertain amount of layers i started decreasing..

And after decreasing weaving. And then the green yarn + my pathetic embroidery attempts come to the picture. Resulting in...:

Joulukuusen koriste! Se ei ihan onnistunut niinkun suunnittelin. Näyttää kyllä vähäsen siltä että joku nelivuotias olisi sen tehnyt. Mutta mitä väliä! Söpö se on silti.

Ensimmäiset kämmekkäät (?) on tehty punaisesta Novitan Pirta-langasta. Malli on Last Minute Knitted gifts - kirjasta, lisäsin vain pikkasen pituutta. Kirjassa luvataan että noiden tekemiseen menee 2-4tuntia, ja totta puhuivat! (Tottakai miun piti kellosta seurata, ja tommonen kolmisen tuntia meni)

The first hand warmers are made from red Novita's Pirta yarn. The pattern is from the book Last Minute Knitted Gifts, but I lengthened it a bit. The book says it'll take from 2 to 4 hours to make them, and they weren't kidding. (Naturally I had to time it, and it took me about 3 hours)

Tämä pari sai inspiraation samaisen kirjan mallista, mutta ihan pikkusen muokkailin. Näihin sain viimein käytettyä tuota oranssia Samos Lollipoppia. Miulla oli hyvin valitettava oranssi-kausi joskus 11vuotiaana, jonka jälkeen oon pitänyt oranssia aika vastenmielisenä, mutta pakkohan tuo kerä oli ostaa kun euron maksoi... Kaverilla ei onneksi oo mitään vihamielisyyksiä oranssia kohtaan, ja lisäsimpä vielä valkoista samosta ettei mene tylsäksi.
Tässä kuvassa toimin itte mallina. Himpun verran haastavaa ottaa kuva ittestään, niin että molemmissa käsissä on kuvattavaa tavaraa.

This pair got it's inspiration from the same book, but I just modified it a little bit. Finally I used the single skein of Novita's orange Samos Lollipop that I had. I had an unfortunate orange period going on when I was 11years old, and after that I've found orange kind of repulsing but I had to buy the yarn 'cos it was only 1€... Fortunatelly my friend doesn't harbour any hostilities towards orange, plus I added a little bit of white Samos yarn so it wouldn't be too boring.
These are modelled by me. A little challenging taking a picture of yourself wearing something in both hands.

Perjantaina löysin kadulta napin, ja tottahan se piti mukaansa napata ja kuvata. Nyt pitää vaan päättää mitä se haluaa ympärilleen..laukun? boleron? "villa"takin? Ehdotuksia otetaan vastaan! Nappi on tosiaan pikkaisen tummemman ruskea kuin kuvassa näyttäisi, ja halkaisialtaan noin 2,5cm.

On friday I found a button on the street, so obviously I had to take it with me and photograph it. Now I just got to figure out what it wants around it...a bag? a shrug? a cardi? I'm very open to suggestions! The button is a bit darker brown than it seems in the picture, and about 2,5cm (an inch) in diameter.

Ja se niistä suurista välipäivä suunnitelmista.. Kun siivoilin niin potkaisin kangaskassia, jossa tämä työ makaili keskeneräisenä, joten olihan se tehtävä valmiiks. Jotkut vaan tekee kaikkensa välttyäkseen siivoukselta. Aloitin tän tosiaan muutama kuukaus sitten, mutta sen tekeminen oli aika yksitoikkosta. Mutta onneks otin itteeni niskasta kiinni ja tein sen nyt valmiiksi, tästähän tuli aivan tosi söpö!

Mallin löysin täältä Aion laittaa tän mustan paidan kanssa miun serkun ristiäisiin jotka on joskus ennen joulua. Pitää vaan vielä tehdä valkoinen hame. Ihanaa kun pääsee tommosiin juhliin ja voi käyttää nättejä vaatteita, kun oma jokapäivänen tyyli on aika lailla erilainen...

So much for my day off plan..While I was cleaning I kicked a totebag where this was just laying unfinished, so I desided to finish it. Some people will just do everyhting to get out of cleaning. I started doing this a few months ago, but making it was kinda boring. I'm so glad I got my act together and got this done, it came out so very cute!

I found the pattern here I'm gonna wear it with a black shirt to my cousin's christening, that are held sometime before christmast. I just godda make a white skirt too. I love it when I get to go to parties like that and wear pretty clothes, since my everyday style is a bit different..

Lankavarastojen tyhjennys menossa, joten kaverit tulee saamaan jonkin verran kaikennäkösiä pikku lahjoja. Kuten nämä sormettomat lapaset knittystä

Mie alotin ja lopetin näitten tekemisen tänään. Ja nyt on ranteet kipeät. Alkaa addiktio käydä vaaralliseksi. Mut ehkä miun vaan pitää pitää huomenna välipäivä neulomisesta.

Ja kyllä kuva on otettu vessassa.. siellä vaan sattuu olemaan paras valaistus.

Enpä oo vähään aikaan tehny palmikoita ja kyllä siinä hermo meinas mennäkkin. Ei se vaikeeta oo, pelkästään rasittavaa.

A started and finished making these today. And now my wrists hurt. The addiction is getting a little dangerous. But maybe I just need to take a day off from knitting tomorrow.

And yes the picture is taken in my bathroom. It just happens to have the best lighting.

This was the first time in a while that I knitted cables, and almost lost my nerves.. It's not like it's hard or anything, just annoying.

But yay they came out pretty!!!

In the beginning of october I made the coolest socks ever for my friend's birthday.


I made up the pattern as I knitted, and here it is:


*one set of double pointed needles size 3.5mm
*crochet hook size 3,5mm
*the yarn that I used was some cheep acrylic yarn from a local supermarket
*the size is european 40-41.. at least in the ones i made

*Create 14sts/needle (56 all together) with black yarn
*Starting with red yarn knit 16rows
(Remember to change color after every 5rows!!)
*At the end of needles 1&4 knit 2 together (knit all other sts)
*Knit 29rows
*Knit 2 togethet at the end of needles 2&4 (knit all other sts)
*Knit 27rows
*Knit t together at the end of needle 1 and at the beginning of needle 4
*Knit 7 rows
* Make an hourglass heel a.k.a heel with shortened rows (sorry can't find a good english tutorial on that)
*Knit 36rows
*Knit 2 together at the beginning of needle 2 and at the end of needle 3
* Knit together the 5th+6th, and the 11th+12th sts on every needle
*Knit 4 rows
*Knit together the 4th+5th, and the 9th and 10th sts on every needle
*knit 3 rows
*Knit together the 3rd+4th, and the 7th+8th sts on every needle
*Knit 2 rows
*Knit together the 2nd+3rd, and the 5th+6th sts on every needle
*Knit 1 row
*Knit together the 1st+2nd, and the 3rd+4th sts on every needle
*Pull yarn through last sts
*Cast off

With crochet hook and using slip stithes make seams in the back of the socks with both colors. Continue the seams by making a 10cm chain.

Kai mie tulin kateelliseks muille blogittajille. Ja että miks sekä suomeksi että enkuks? Koska alukskin mie oon suomalainen.. ja toiseksee viihdyn erittäin hyvin myös englannin kielisillä käsityö foorumeilla.

Vapaa-aika kuluu aika paljon puikot kädessä. Virkkaamisenkin opettelin viime kesänä, ja ompelenkin jonkun verran, en vaan kovin hyvin ..vielä.

Eli semmoista näin aluksi, lisää tulee kyllä. Kuvia joistain vanhoista valmiista töistä tulee pian, ja uusista valmiista töistä toivottavasti myös nopeesti...

So now I have my own blog!

Guess I got jealous of all the other bloggers. And why in both Finnish and English? 'Cos first of all I'm finnish.. and second I like english craft forums.

A lot of my free time is spent with knitting neeldes in my hands. I also learned how to crochet last summer, and I do some sewing I'm just not that good in it...yet.

So that's it for now, there will be more. Pictures of some old finished thingys will be coming soon, and pictures of new thingys hopefully soon too..
